About The Role

RAC have an exciting new position for a Data Scientist who will work in the optimisation division within the Insurance Pricing team. The role links up directly with the Pricing, Product, Commercial and Finance colleagues to ensure that internal and external guidance develops and maintains our pricing models and systems.

As we transition to Python from Radar you will support the modelling team with the set-up and development of our new machine learning environment.

This role is based in Bradley Stoke, working hybrid hours, 2 days a week in the office and three days a week working from home. 

 

What you will do 

  • Statistical Modelling and Analysis
  •  Data Manipulation with SQL
  • Presentation of MI, analysis and Insight to support decision making
  • Research and apply new analytical and data science techniques
  • Review alternative pricing initiatives based on LTV and current trading performance
  • Investigate and drive forward market leading analytical, monitoring and interaction capabilities
  • Peer review of models prior to deployment
  • Investigate new data sources and support integration into RAC systems and models
  • Be prepared to work within interdisciplinary teams across RAC to further data science and analytical capabilities

 

What you will need 

The successful candidate will have 1 – 2 years’ experience building predictive models in a production environment using Python and be able to bring to life their previous experience on what and how they have created these models. We are also open to meeting anyone that has just completed their PhD

In a production environment, you will have knowledge of using Data Science platforms like Azure, DevOps, Databricks, and Dataiku.

Qualifications:

  • Numerical degree grade 2.1 or above in Mathematics/Statistics/Data Science or equivalent.
  • A-level maths grade A or above
