Join the RAC as a Rescue & Recovery Operations Manager and lead the teams making critical decisions for our members when they need us most.
You'll lead a critical part of the RAC's 24/7 operation, where decisions your team make directly affect how quickly and effectively we get members moving again.
Working across nights and weekends on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, you'll lead our Out of Hours deployment operation, making sure we use our own rescue and recovery resources and external contractor network effectively.
It's a fast moving operation where priorities can change quickly. You'll need to balance member needs with operational and commercial performance, while giving your teams the direction and support they need to deliver.
Working closely with senior leaders, operational teams, technical colleagues and external partners, you'll also have the opportunity to improve how we work, remove barriers and help shape a more effective rescue and recovery operation.
What you'll do
- Lead our Out of Hours deployment teams, creating clear priorities, accountability and consistent performance across a complex 24/7 operation.
- Take ownership of key operational and customer measures, including productivity, resource utilisation and NPS, using data and insight to improve performance.
- Make sure rescue and recovery resources are deployed effectively and right first time, balancing member needs, service and commercial outcomes.
- Coach and develop Deployment Leads and team members, building capability, confidence and consistency across the operation.
- Identify and resolve operational issues across people, processes, systems and data, removing friction and improving delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement, finding practical ways to improve outcomes for members, colleagues and partners.
- Lead teams through change, helping colleagues adopt new ways of working and making improvements part of everyday activity.
- Build strong relationships across the RAC, working with Group Operations, technical and commercial teams, internal audit and external network partners.
What you'll need
- Proven experience leading complex, time-sensitive operational teams and delivering strong performance through others.
- Strong commercial awareness, with an understanding of how people, processes, systems and data come together to influence operational results.
- Strong knowledge of deployment operations, systems and processes, with the confidence to use performance measures to make effective decisions.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and bring people together at all levels.
- A resilient and adaptable leadership style, with the judgement to manage immediate operational pressures while driving longer-term service and performance improvements.
