RAC have a new exciting opportunity for a proactive and detail-driven Data Protection Manager to join on a 12 month fixed-term contract basis.
As a member of our Data Protection Team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring RAC’s compliance with data protection legislation, including the GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and PECR.
As part of this role, you will advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), conduct privacy control reviews, and deliver engaging staff training. You’ll also act as a central point of contact for internal teams, the ICO, and individuals whose data is processed by the RAC
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, have a solid understanding of UK data protection laws, along with excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset.
This is a hybrid role, working two days a week from our Bescot offices and three days working from home.
What you will do…
- Be a point of contact for data protection queries in the business.
- Respond to data disclosure requests from the police and other authorities
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments.
- Assist with keeping the RAC’s policies, procedures, and Privacy Notices up to date.
- Gather information to provide to our corporate partner network when requested
- Work closely with the Information Security Team to ensure that we comply with all relevant data protection law, regulation and policy.
- Overseeing how the business responds to data subject rights requests, providing challenge where necessary to ensure compliance and best practice.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and be able to recommend & implement strategic improvements on a wide range of data protection issues, along with:
- Ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels of the business
- Strong change & project management skills
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to work unsupervised, exercise leadership and influence change
- Excellent writing and presentation skills
- Ability to prioritise and to work to multiple deadlines.
