About The Role

RAC are on the lookout for a Data Protection Officer (DPO) to help lead the way in privacy and compliance across the RAC Group. 

We’re looking for an experienced and influential data protection professional to provide strategic leadership and manage our dedicated Data Protection Team. This is a key role ensuring RAC meets its obligations under UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act, and e-Privacy regulations.

What you’ll do 

  • Act as RAC Group’s Data Protection Officer, providing privacy leadership across all RAC companies and divisions. 
  • Lead and develop a team of three Data Protection Managers. 
  • Advise on data protection matters and monitor compliance. 
  • Report data protection issues to the Group’s Executive Risk & Audit Committee and the Group Regulated Board. 
  • Work closely with Legal, Information Security, Risk, and Compliance teams. 

 

What we’re looking for 

  • Proven experience as a senior data protection practitioner. 
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act, and e-Privacy Regulation. 
  • Leadership and project management experience. 
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate effectively at all levels. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and experience managing a team. 
  • Experience liaising with the ICO (or other regulators). 
  • Financial services experience is desirable. 

 

Qualifications/FSA: 

  • Preferable:  
  • CIPP-E or similar qualifications
