About The Role

RAC have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Finance Business Partner who’ll help pro-actively drive and own the financial performance of the Retention business within the Consumer Roadside portfolio, as the largest division in the RAC this is a pivotal role.

Reporting directly to the FD you will have responsibility for a small team of finance professionals, and be responsible for forecasting, reporting with a focus on supporting the sales operations and pricing teams who play a critical role in driving retention. You’ll have responsibility for all aspects of financial management including commercial pricing, budgeting, financial analysis and insight, decision making support, as well as daily, monthly and weekly reporting.

The successful person will bring experience of working in complex organisations, be passionate for numbers and analytics with an exemplary attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm for getting stuck into the numbers. Combined with outstanding stakeholder management, challenging constructively when needed but seeing the bigger commercial picture, and demonstrating credibility and gravitas.  

This is a hybrid role, working two days a week in the Bradley Stoke office

What will you do 

Inform business leaders and their decision-making through commercial understanding of the business area you support, with emphasis on:

  • Identifying areas of under/over performance and drive action to realise opportunities and mitigate risk
  • Draw out and highlight trends and get behind the numbers to show what is driving performance
  • Analyse results versus budget / prior years
  • Analyse key performance indicators and understand and then explain the context of performance
  • Bring these reports to life for the wider Consumer teams through the addition of insightful commercial commentary in weekly / monthly trading and commercial review meetings
  • Ensure Retention, Pricing and Sales Ops teams understand their reported numbers and impacts
  • Support provision of financial appraisal and decision support with quick analysis that supports the right decision to be made quickly
  • Perform required analysis e.g. Net Present Value, Cost Benefit, investment payback periods
  • Lead the creation of the Retention budget and in-year forecasts
  • Understand and help shape the Group Strategy and Five-Year Plan, and the specific short- and medium-term targets you are involved in influencing 

 

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant and have a proven track record in leading a team and managing and working with senior stakeholders across their businesses. You will be highly analytical and able to assimilate information to then make quick decisions.

The role requires you to be a numbers person, with the ability to work with your team to analyse large volumes of data within fast paced complex scenarios.  You will show excellent financial modelling skills and have advanced MS Excel knowledge, and proven track record of working with Data and IT teams to shape and develop reporting capabilities. Along with this you will have proven stakeholder management experience at a senior level, helping to shape and influence business decisions and creating a healthy tension with your business partners to support creating a stretching budget and then delivering that budget.
