About The Role

RAC has an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager – Regulatory Transformation & Consumer Duty to join our Consumer business. This role offers significant opportunity to influence how regulatory expectations are embedded into one of RAC’s largest and most complex areas, ensuring strong commercial outcomes are delivered alongside excellent customer outcomes.

This is a high-profile, fast-paced role sitting at the intersection of regulation, transformation and commercial delivery. Working closely with senior stakeholders across Consumer, Product, Change and Risk, you’ll help shape how Consumer Duty and conduct risk considerations are applied in a practical, proportionate way, enabling progress rather than slowing it down.

This is not a traditional, first-line governance role. You’ll be embedded in decision-making as it happens, providing confident challenge, commercial judgement and credible influence in the room.

What You’ll Do

Regulatory Transformation & Consumer Duty

• Act as a trusted Consumer Duty advisor across the division, embedding yourself in day-to-day decision-making and key forums

• Provide effective challenge to teams designing products, customer journeys and communications, ensuring good customer outcomes and alignment to target markets

• Own and manage the customer understanding testing plan, ensuring testing activity is proportionate, targeted and insight-led

• Analyse testing outcomes to identify themes, trends and opportunities to improve customer experience and reduce conduct risk

• Stress-test proposed approaches and solutions with the business, helping teams refine thinking before decisions are finalised

• Operate confidently across multiple change and transformation initiatives, adapting to shifting priorities while maintaining delivery standards

• Balance constructive challenge with pragmatic support to enable commercial progress

Governance, Risk & Assurance

• Review policies, processes and initiatives to identify Consumer Duty and conduct risks, providing commercially pragmatic recommendations

• Oversee breaches and issues, conducting root cause analysis and supporting timely, effective remediation

• Maintain robust governance, management information and evidence to demonstrate compliance and protect the business

• Own and manage Consumer Duty and conduct risk logs, ensuring risks are clearly articulated, prioritised and escalated appropriately

Leadership, BAU & Delivery

• Produce and coordinate high-quality executive and Board-level packs, distilling complex information into clear, decision-focused insight

• Manage the book of work across BAU, change and continuous improvement initiatives

• Line manage one direct report, supporting their development, delivery and confidence

• Shape consistent and effective ways of working across BAU and change

What You’ll Bring

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Strong working knowledge of FCA Consumer Duty and conduct risk within UK financial services

• Experience operating in fast-moving consumer environments with high volumes and frequent change

• Proven ability to engage, influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders, bringing them with you through reasoned argument and evidence

• Experience reviewing risk and regulation in commercial or change-led environments

• Ability to produce clear, concise executive-level reporting and MI

• Strong attention to detail while maintaining momentum in a fast-paced setting

Location | Working Pattern | Salary

This role follows a hybrid model, with required office attendance at our Bradley Stoke, Bristol office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
